About the event
Healthcare workers in Haiti intersect with children, youth and families every day in hospitals, vaccine clinics, malnutrition programs, community education campaigns, and in crisis situations.
Stigma around disability, rising rates of malnutrition, lack of access to treatments or therapies, and the poor coverage of medical facilities around the country cause breakdowns in family life that increase the risk of child abandonment in hospitals, separation of families in the search for medical access, and in worse case scenarios result in families giving up children into seemingly “better” situations away from home.
If your organization is implementing any form of healthcare in Haiti, please join the Haiti Family Care Network for an open dialogue focused on Haiti's healthcare crisis and the intersection of healthcare and family life. Like all of our Community Conversations, this is not a training workshop but is rather a time for guided conversation and hopefully engaging and collaborative problem solving.
